St. Justin Martyr School


St. Justin Martyr School encourages families to be involved in their children’s school lives.  School volunteers and employees in the State of California must be fingerprint cleared and, additionally, in the Diocese of Orange must have completed an online Safe Environment class.  Both of these must be completed prior to volunteering.  To begin the process, please fill out the form below and submit it to the office.  Once submitted, instructions and additional paperwork will be forwarded to you.

Three required meetings are held, one each in September, January, and May.  One service hour per family is applied to those families who sign the attendance sheet.  These meetings have specific agendas and start promptly at 7:00 P.M.  Sign out is required at the end of the meetings. Childcare (in the daycare room) is provided free of charge to SJM students during these meetings.   These are no homework nights.


Each family is asked to work 20 (twenty) service hours per year from June 1  to May 15 or buy out the unworked hours.

June 1-Nov. 30: minimum 10.00 hrs.

Dec.1-May 15: minimum 10.00 hrs.

There is a maximum number of hours that can be earned for some activities.

Partial hours will receive partial credit. Hours worked beyond the 10.00 required hours in cycle 1 (June 1-Nov. 30, 2017) will be carried over to the next period     (Dec.1, 2017-May 15, 2018).

After the second billing cycle ends (May 15), a maximum number of 6 worked hours can be carried over to the next school year (2018-2019).  The PTO Board will deliberate and decide on special circumstances.  The principal has the final decision.

All Participatory Expectations are subject to change if the program is revised during the year or for the start of a new year.

Every person is responsible for filling out his or her Service Hours worked form.  On a monthly basis, the committee chairperson will verify the hours worked and turn the form in to the person in charge of service hours.  At the end of each Service Hour period, each family will receive a service hours report.  Contact the service hour chair by phone or email regarding discrepancies.  Invoices for unworked service hours will be sent out within 2 weeks.

See list below for service hours opportunities.  Specific participatory event committee chairs can earn 26 (includes 6 carry over) service hours.  Failure to fulfill obligation of chair responsibilities will result in pro-rated billing.
